If you wish to start fresh and declare an account balanced, you can mark all entries balanced. Select to show only unreconciled transactions. Sort by date, and go to the oldest transaction. Hold down Cntl+Shift+M and let auto-repeat work thru the transactions until none are left showing. Then balance making the starting and ending balance match the known balance. Choose the balance date to be the day after your last transaction. This is not the normal procedure. It starts you with an amnesty for former balancing. Thereafter, follow the normal procedure. Look at the balancing movie clip from your Money disk. During the normal procedure, you are presented with the list of transactions that are not reconciled. In the left column will be the starting, and ending balances you entered as you started balancing. There will also be a difference amount. As you click on the C column for a transaction reflected on the statement, that space in the C column will change to a C. If you mark an transaction cleared that has not actually been reflected on the statement, you can click the C column again to toggle the cleared status. The difference should move toward zero. As you continue, you should eventually get the difference to zero. If you can not, you can click next. Money will offer some choices. |

| I setup a new account, gave it a name and entered it after I had been using the program. How would I correct this? Speaking of after the fact: I decided to use the "Balance" function after receiving a statement in the mail today. This is the first time I've used it. The numbers don't match up, but I know the ending balance is correct. how do I get the program to just accept it? I used Postpone in the hopes that next month it wouldn't do that again. Thanks all. for the help. <deanmbrunk1[at]hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1134713731.370910.294600[at]f14g2000cwb.googlegroups.com... - quote - > How did you initially enter in the beginning balance (amount owed)? > Through the wizard/account setup or directly into the account? > If you entered them in directly into the account, perhaps you entered > in a 'payment' as opposed to a charge, giving you the positive balance > and being in the black... > This may be a debit/credit thing... > Whistler wrote: > > No I input as a positive number. | How did you initially enter in the beginning balance (amount owed)? Through the wizard/account setup or directly into the account? If you entered them in directly into the account, perhaps you entered in a 'payment' as opposed to a charge, giving you the positive balance and being in the black... This may be a debit/credit thing... Whistler wrote: - quote - > No I input as a positive number. As previously stated it show as owing in > Debt Planner. | No I input as a positive number. As previously stated it show as owing in Debt Planner. Shows in black under Account List (I thought it would show in Red). It is listed as a liability. By all accounts everything is OK, except it makes it look like I have more $$ than I do (I owe more than I own). For a credit card account, the balance numbers are in terms of what> my assets listed in account register working fine, bills, fine. Now I am > entering my debts. You probably put in a negative number as the starting balance. Just make that number positive if you owe money. |

| Hello, I am new to Money. Purchased software in 2001 but never used. I have my assets listed in account register working fine, bills, fine. Now I am entering my debts. I have an account that I've entered that shows in my total account balance and is ADDED, not subtracted from my Total Account Balance as expected. The account shows in my Debt Planner as a liability and shows that I owe. Is this a bug, or something that I do not understand about financial accounting? |
