Default RE: Item not entered in Budget shows up in budget anyway

Jim:

I hope my post helps you. I had the same problem and worked around it
(painfully).

The usual work-around doesn't work, because for the Debt category group, the
part of a bill that goes to loan principal isn't going to an actual category.
Search on "phantom bills debt" to see my post of 1/9/06 under "How to
reset/clear...." As I wrote there, I had to delete every loan along with its
associated automatically scheduled bill payment to get the Debt category
group back to zero. Then I recreated the loans, allowing the program to
automatically schedule the bill payment. It worked!

Default Item not entered in Budget shows up in budget anyway

I'm having a problem with my budget in Money 2004.

In the "Enter your expenses" page, I've got a line for Debt as follows:
Debt 0.00

and then Lower down in in the same view is my mortgage:

Utilities
Bills:Mortgage Paymnet
<My Mortgage Co> Monthy 1,007.48

I saved this budget and went into "Review your current budget status", it
shows that I'm overbudget on a house payment.

Budget Category Actual Budgeted
Difference
Expenses over budgeted limits
Bills:Mortgage Payment 1,007.48 0.00 1,007.48

And further below in the same view:

Special
Debt 0.0 1,400.00
1,400.00

The amount $1,400.00 does match an earlier mortgage payment, but I made sure
to delete this from my current budget. There are no debts in my budget
unless I move the mortgage payment into the debt column. Either way seems
to make no difference. It saysI'm overbudget on the mortgage, but says I'm
underbudget on a phantom $1,400. How do I get rid of the $1400 entry in the
budget? I Hope the tables are readable.

Jim.
