TD Waterhouse works fine without Passport, and I assume Ameritrade
does too.

There are times when the TD Waterhouse downloads download in the wee
hours with some securities identified internally with ticker instead
of CUSIP. Money will ask if they are the same securities. If that
happens, I File-> Restore my backup and try later. If I were to just
click that the securities were the same, it would do OK. But it is
easier to just try later.

I use TD Waterhouse and Ameritrade on-line broker services. I see
that TD Waterhouse offers support for Passport, but I haven't
found any information on this from Ameritrade. The two companies
merged, so I would think their services would be about the same.

If you care to name your broker, some people might have some
experience with their individual quirks. Many brokers do have OFX
servers, so using a Passport to get transactions from those brokers
is not a necessity.

Depending on your broker you may find downloading your transactions saves
typing and increases accuracy. But some users gripe that their broker
formats downloaded transactions in an unhelpful manner. You can't lose much
by trying it out, if they offer it. Just make a backup first.

I find it helpful but my brokers format the records meaningfully, and I
don't have a lot of activity.

Thanks, Cal. I will hang loose for a while and try to learn the
Passport's capabilities and limitations. I don't have much need
for online banking. Most of my MS Money work involves my stock
market accounts.

I meant that if you want to automatically download from institutions
that don't provide servers, you do need a Passport on your file.

I don't know if you put the Passport on your regular Money file, or
not. I had suggested you put it onto temp.mny if you did not wish to
have the Passport on your Money file.

No, it is not likely to compromise your security.

You can also remove the Passport from your file, and for many
institutions you can download transactions just fine. For many
others that don't provide their own servers, you don't need a
Passport on your file.

Thanks, this seems to have worked. That is, I can now start MS
Money 2006 without the pop-up warning me that my trail version is
going to go belly up, but I had to "agree" to on-line banking. I
don't know if I want this or not. My accounting/banking structure
isn't very complex, and I think I would prefer to be in the
driver's seet when things are being done to any of my accounts.

Wnat's the general take on this Online Banking feature? Is it
likely to compromise my security in any way?

I suggest you assume you used a Passport, and proceed accordingly. I
therefore suggest you create a new file with each Passport you might
have used, starting with the email address that was used to receive
the email you quoted.

Hmmm. Yet another distribution scheme to break. Was there any activation
code or similar? This is the first report about this particular distribution
scheme. You may end up having to call Microsoft Support unless somebody else
has a better answer. The instructions you got are known to work for the case
of d/l the trial version and upgrading, on line, to a fully licensed
version.

I did this, and established a Passport, then signed in and
clicked "Done" then re-started MS Money 2006, but the pop-up
warning is still thre. Maybe I need to upgrade my PopUP Blocker
software!

I visited this site and followed the instructions, then
re-started MS Money, but the warning pop-up still popped up! What
can I try next?

This was a valid, full price on-line purchase of MS Money 2006,
and should not be limited to any trial offer period at all. My
credit card has already been billed for the full price.

I purchased my MS Money 2006 upgrade through a special offer
attached to my purchase of H&R Block TaxCut 2005. I don't recall
that I used a Passport, but I'm not sure.

All my downloads seem to be working right but I don't know what
will happen if I don't get this issue resolved before the
3/8/2006; cut-off date.

See http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;889930
and follow it if you want your Money file to use the same Passport
on your Money file that you used when you bought Money.

If you want something other than to do that, do something slightly
different. Create a NEW empty file (named perhaps Temp.mny) that
you put the referenced Passport onto. Let Money download data that
it needs. Close Money. Restart Money.

Confirm that Money shows the right version. Then click on your
real Money file that is shown on the bottom of the File menu.

From a previous post by Cal Learner:-

Do something similar to, but not the same as
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;889930

In the resolution, create a NEW empty file (named perhaps Temp.mny)
that you put the referenced Passport onto. Close Money. Restart
Money.

Confirm that Money shows the right version. Then click on your
real Money file that is shown on the bottom of the File menu.

Default Expiration notice

I recently purchased, online, an upgrade to Microsoft Money 2006.
It installed and is operating well except I now get a pop-up that
tells me, "Your trial version of Microsoft Money will expire on
3/8.2006." This was not a trial version that I purchased. It was
a full version of the Premium version, as indicated below. How do
I go about clearing this pop-up from my computer?

Dear Customer,

This mail is confirmation that you successfully purchased
Microsoft Money 2006 Premium (one-time charge of $79.95 plus tax)
on Thursday, December 08, 2005.
