| Has anyone concluded this is NOT a corrupt file issue or a Bank issue? Here's why.... I called MSFT today and they told me it was an MDAC issue, I loaded up MDAC 2.6 because 2.8 wouldn't install on XPsp2 and that DID NOT fix the issue. I tried a file repair but then the file repair tool crapped out. I created a test file and downloaded a bunch of transactions - no error after about 3 minutes. I then restored a backup just before I got this R6025 error over the Test file (the MSFT guy said if I dbl-clicked the file it would restore over my broken file since all a restore is delete of old data and a copy of new data into a file - huh? really?). I had been working about 10 mins (the longest yet w/o getting the error) into the new file downloading transactions from BoA and Wells (let me say that the download from Wells Fargo on 12/6 is when this all started - anyone else using Well's and getting this error?) so when I downloaded my Wells data the error popped up again. So, now I am not sure if it's my file still (it leans towards that since it was a restore) or if the Money 2006 is busted or if it's Wells Fargo data. I've got data dating back to Money 97 - what do I do now? I should have stayed with Money 2004 or are there people with Money 2004 going through this??? This is a stab. However it should be easier than some of the other things you have tried. Clearly you are not the only one with that error, but it is not widespread. Try creating a new XP user with Administrator privilege. Switch to that user and start Money with a new blank file with no Passport (select Decline). Let Money download updates as that user. If it succeeds, it could serve as an indicator. The theory is that if the problem is an IE6 or some other user-associated setting, you will get default settings for the new user. If you succeed this way, it would accomplish the download, and it would point toward the reason the other did not work. You can delete the new user later, and your regular settings will not have been changed. |

The problem can occur if some application has put its own location in the PATH before C:\WINDOWS\system32. You could Start-> Search for MSVCRT.dll, MSVCR71.dll to find the locations where the copies lie. My msvcr71.dll is 348,160 bytes long, and my msvcrt.dll is 343,040 bytes long. Let us know what you find out. |
