I think qdata.mny may be the default name for a Quicken file, and
may be retained for such a file converted from Quicken.

That still seems like a lot.

Cal and Dick,

Thank you for your replies.

The qdata.mny file is, I believe, the default file name for MS Money data.
My file is pretty small, as I just started anew, when I installed M 06. The
file size is just over 6MB, down from 50MB that I used to have. But Iomega
stil goes and goes, even with the smaller file size.

I have changed the back-up timing, Cal, to once/hour, rather than every 15
minutes. Thanks. It'll be interesting to see if that makes a difference.

Dave

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,1090257,00.asp says "he most
reliable approach is to set it so that it manages backups without
any user input, backing up files as you edit them." If you were to
do a backup each time Money writes to the data file, I would not be
surprised to have an inordinate amount of time consumed. I suggest
you use a scheduled backup, rather than backing up each time a quote
is fetched, or an entry is made.

Plus, the risk of backing up while Money may be in the middle of an
operation seems less than reliable.

What's a qdata file?

You mean a Money data file of whatever name?

a) They're big.

b) Depending on how you use Money, there may be an read exclusive access
conflict.

Default Iomega Auto Back-up and qdata files

Does anyone else who uses Iomega Automatic Back-up notice that it spends an
inordinate amount of time backing up the Qdata file? If so, is there some
sort of compatability issue here?
