I would start by trying to restore that backup to the desktop machine, but do not restore to the 'default' place. Instead restore to a different name and/or folder. The purpose of this is to try to figure out if the problem is with the Money install on the laptop, or something else. You can return to working with the original file by using the MRU list at the bottom of the File menu. |

| I spend half my workweek on the road and have MS Money installed on both a desktop machine and a laptop, in order to work on the same Money file on both machines. When "backing up" my desktop's primary Money file to a USB stick drive and then "restoring" it on my laptop, I find I can open the Money file on my laptop but cannot enter any new data to that file. When I fill in the boxes for a new transaction on the laptop and hit "enter," the program responds, "This transaction cannot be entered." Why? -- Frugl |
