| Just tried it. You are right, when you make a regaular mortgae payment from a THB checking account to a THB mortgae the currence conversion dialog pops up. Then if I accept the default values in the pop up form, when I look at the checking account I see that it deducted a number of US dollars from the checking account that is numerically equal to the number of Thai Baht that were applied to the mortage. This means that the balance in the checking account will be wrong by a big amount. This seems like a major bug to me, it basically forces you to pay the mortgage out of an account that is denominated in US dollars no matter what currency the mortgage account is in. | Thanks for taking the time to test this out guys. However, I wonder whether you would mind indulging me with one more test. Try the same thing you just did except, instead of a credit card / checking account combination, use a mortgage and a checking account in THB (Make sure you elect to track transactions on the mortgage rather than just keeping track of the outstanding amount). Now go to the mortgage and try to make a new payment. Choose "regular loan payment", and select the THB checking account that you've set up as the account from which the funds should be taken. Based on your test, I tried it in a test file with a checking and> had a cash account denoicnated in Thai Baht and I created new Credit Card > account also denomincated in Thai Baht. | I just tried it in Money 2006 and couldn't replicate the problem I already had a cash account denoicnated in Thai Baht and I created new Credit Card account also denomincated in Thai Baht. When I transfer funds between these accounts, no currency conversion prompt pops up. According to "Help About", the version of Money 2006 that I'm running is 15.0.125.513 "Andrew Ross" <AndrewRoss[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4FE108AA-076C-49E4-B2A0-61E596CA2B2E[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > A while ago I noticed a problem in the 2006 version where transfers between > two accounts denominated in the same foreign currency would result in a > currency conversion prompt. > The 2005 version handled this type of transfer correctly so I asked > Microsoft for a refund and went back to that version. > I would like to upgrade to 2006 when I can but it's pointless to do so if > this functionality is still broken. | Beware you are describing prime conditions for things that don't get fixed, ever. | OK, thanks for the prompt response Bob. I suppose the next obvious question is: "What constitutes a 'big-time screw up'?" In order to replicate this issue, you need to: a. Have foreign currency accounts; b. Have more than one account in the same foreign currency; and c. Want to make transfers between those similarly denominated foreign currencies accounts. I'm willing to bet those circumstances apply to a fairly small subset of the user base so I suppose I should just get over it and wait for the next release?! Cheers A. | There haven't been any patches to M2006. Typically MS do not issue patches between versions unless they screw up big-time as happened with M2005 shortly after release. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | A while ago I noticed a problem in the 2006 version where transfers between two accounts denominated in the same foreign currency would result in a currency conversion prompt. The 2005 version handled this type of transfer correctly so I asked Microsoft for a refund and went back to that version. I would like to upgrade to 2006 when I can but it's pointless to do so if this functionality is still broken. Anyone know if it's been fixed yet? Thanks A. |
