| Weird that they just summarily changed the behaviour without making an option for it. For now I think I'll go back to 2k2. No. It would be nice if there were some way that dates and amounts> "upgraded" to 2006, and unfortunately I ran in to a problem. > I manually download a file from my local bank (.ofx file, not using online > services). > Some of the transactions in the file I have already entered in the register > (either manually or auto-entered bills). > When money matches a transaction (either automatically or through the > "change" button), then: > In Money 2002: > It would take the date and amount from the downloaded (bank) > transaction, and the description and category from the manually entered > entry. It would be nice if you could select which data to go with in the case of a discrepancy. For the most part, I can see the advantage of the downloaded data taking precedence over the hand-entered data. One case I would not want to see that comes to mind: if I mail my tax check on a given day, I would not want the date that the bank processed the transaction to override my date. From a tax point of view, it is when you mail your money for state/local tax, or other tax-deductible checks, that determines which year it is deductible for. Since one of Money's jobs is to report those deductible things back to you, that is significant. On the other hand, I would want a downloaded dividend to trump an estimated dividend entry. |

| Hi, I had been using Money 2002 for a number of years now, and I recently "upgraded" to 2006, and unfortunately I ran in to a problem. I manually download a file from my local bank (.ofx file, not using online services). Some of the transactions in the file I have already entered in the register (either manually or auto-entered bills). When money matches a transaction (either automatically or through the "change" button), then: In Money 2002: It would take the date and amount from the downloaded (bank) transaction, and the description and category from the manually entered entry. (Perfect, that's exactly what I want). In Money 2006: It takes everything from the manually entered entry. (Not at all what I want since the manually entered one can be an estimated date and/or amount). Is there an option to change it back to the 2002 behaviour? Thanks, Erik |
