| After advice from MVP's on the "News" I bought a USB2 flash drive and now leave this on the PC so that when I leave Money I automatically do a back up to this. | Well that is what I started doing. I guess it was more out of habit than anything that I was using a floppy. Thanks. copy the entire file to USB drives. I just had files small enough to fit on a floppy. ---------- http://www.barnabascollins.blogspot.com ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

Money 2005 will backup up to the USB drive if there is room, and> files on it pretty quick since it won't overwrite. Maybe there is a reason > that they pretty much give the standard version away! It leaves a zero byte temporary file that is irritating, but harmless. |

| Taylor is right, you should just back up to another hdd if you have one. Currently I back up to an old internal zip100 which works great. Anyway, I think it automatically overwrites the file. I have used Money 2003 for about 3 years and just went to 2005 about 3 months ago and I just checked my zip drive and there is only one file on it. There isn't multiple files. | Don't bother backing up to floppies. Back up to another disk on your system, or just to your main hard disk. | It would seem that even with a USB stick you would have a LOT of backup files on it pretty quick since it won't overwrite. Maybe there is a reason that they pretty much give the standard version away! I wonder if it is any different in the deluxe version! | A goof in M2005 I guess! No fix available except an upgrade to M2006. BTW floppies are not really reliable for something as critical as your Money file backup. Consider a USB memory stick or similar. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for. | In MS Money 2005 standard version, when you want to backup tp a 3 1/2 floppy it does not offer to overwrite the file which would be particularly handy to do since it unfortunately requires 2 discs unlike any previous versions I have used. I think that is pretty lame. So it seems, unless I missed something somewhere, you have to format or delete the current file before using the same discs again. Is there a fix for this somewhere or, has a newer version got this squared away? |
