| OK...I don't want to run both (wife pays the bills and HATES computers. She is the CEO, CFO. I am just the CIO here in this house. She would never let me add another step), but if I decide I don't like 2006 can I export those files to qif, uninstall 2006, then reinstall 2005 and import the qif's back in again ya think? Would that work? (P.S. I run full, automated backups every night and store them OFF my PC on an external drive. Not that is all Windows fault but I have been disappointed too many times by Microsoft products no to take precautions. I have no measure of your values. Deluxe under $25 with CD at> with the program. I manually back up my money file and store all my backups > on a usb drive. Is it worth upgrading? Sams/Costco, and no rebate there. Let me hit you with another one: One frequent complaint was the Money 2005 Portfolio was going for quotes automatically each time you viewed it. If you don't have it selected to check quotes every 30 minutes, M06 does not fetch the quotes until you ask for them. That was a most requested feature from my observation, believe it or not. That is not to say that the portfolio is of much interest to a majority of users. I am impressed that you use the word "backups" (plural). |

| Your last comment intrigued me the most. I never use the backup incorporated with the program. I manually back up my money file and store all my backups on a usb drive. Is it worth upgrading? Thanks for the quick response by the way. -Greg "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:mo6po1p8jkipfqjbu2u2ul837sdjnjf6b9[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, GregM wrote: > > I would like to take the Money 2006 DEluxe test drive but am I locked into > > it. During the trial install, pay attention, and don't have Money 2006> it. How do I revert back to my current 2005 version if I am not pleased with > the changes to the program. Is that possible? Thanks in advance. uninstall your earlier version. Make a copy of your Money 2005 file named Greg2006.mny, and let Money 2006 convert that. You can run them alternately. The last-installed is set up with the file associations, so when you download an OFX or QIF, the last installed gets fed the file. To feed the file to both, save the file to disk, and do File-> Import to both. Just clicking a link sends the file to the last-installed. You could manually adjust the associations, or could reinstall 2004 to reset the associations. Also, do not have the same Passport on both files. They will both be able to get the direct access FI data. Don't expect appearance items to change. Improvements are under the hood. In particular, the backup generation is much nicer. |
