| I think I found the problem. After seeing that it still hung with a new file, I noticed the cash forecast in the account register stopped on "Loading..." I thought the forecasting was causing the problem so I went through the options and disabled a lot of the automatic features and re-enabled them one by one before as I entered a new transaction until Money hung. Money worked with everything as it was except sounds. When "Play Sounds" on the General tab was checked, Money would hang and I would get a soft system "beep" (not a windows sound) after I entered a transaction. I am now able to enter transactions w/o Money hanging. Thanks for your help. Guess I won't need to fly home just to get my CDs. Thanks again, Shomari |

That's kinda good. It points toward the installation rather than> work. I even tried using Money Express to enter transactions and that > didn't quite work. If you are using XP, I would try creating a new user with Administrator privilege. The purpose would be to see if some setting will cause things to work differently. The new user will start out with default settings. It may well not help, but it is easy to try. You can delete the user later. |

| Thanks... At first I used the back up from before but that still didn't work. I even tried using Money Express to enter transactions and that didn't quite work. It hung but when I killed the process, it somehow (or MSMoney) came back and asked me if the transaction I was entering was a scheduled payment. I closed money and reopened and the transactions was there. Another transaction that I had entered earlier was also there so it appears that some transactions are being written. I thought that maybe Money was just slow but earlier I waited 45 minutes and it still did not respond. Per your suggestion, I tried creating a new file and Money still hangs when entering transactions. All other files in my folder are dated 06/18/2003 11:00 AM with the exception of the 4 posted earlier and mnysetup.dll dated 7/23/2003 and the 1033 and Passport folders dated 10/27/2005 (the day I reinstalled money after wiping my laptop clean). Do you have a backup file from 4 weeks ago?> Money started hanging anytime I enter a new transaction or accepted a > downloaded transaction. The transaction is never completely entered. You could create a new file to see if the problem is associated with the installation or the new file. I have those DLLs in the Money 2004 system folder with the same number of bytes, but they are dated 08/06/04. |

| I've been using Money 2004 for over a year now and about 2 weeks ago, Money started hanging anytime I enter a new transaction or accepted a downloaded transaction. The transaction is never completely entered. I've tried both the level 1 and level 2 repairs. The level 2 repair reports: Fixed records in report table. Fixed records in online table. I looked in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System folder and noticed that the modified date on some of the files changed right around the time this started happening. I'm thinking I'm going to have to reinstall but my CDs are in storage and I probably won't have access to them for several weeks. The changed files are: mnyob99.dll 7,925,760 11/07/2005 11:29 PM mpacct.dll 479,232 11/07/2005 11:29 PM ofx.dll 413,696 11/07/2005 11:29 PM olsvcupd.d 61,440 11/07/2005 11:29 PM Does anyone know of anyway to fix this without reinstalling? Thanks, Shomari |
