In Money 2007 US, DE:870747 displays in euros. So I am expecting
US:MSFT would display in US$ for you.

Tax is not an issue at the moment.

Does Money updates the stock price in US$? What is the price being displayed
in the Portfolio Manager?

The sum row shows to values (Accout Value and Value). Both are in euros. The
uk investment accout shows the account value amount un pounds and value in
euros, which is correct.

I think the most important use of these numbers is for the tax man
when you sell the investment, assuming you are subject to capital
gains taxes.

I would not enter the price. Instead, enter the quantity. Enter the
commission in euros. Enter the total in euros. Money will compute
the share price in euros. The most important items are the total and
the quantity. So don't have Money compute those. This makes some
assumptions about what data you need to keep for taxes. If things
differ materially from what I imagine, then perhaps this is not the
best way. But normally you want to enter the important items, and
let Money compute the details.

I don't know about what might be going on there.

The euro broker shows stock price and total amount in us$, whilst the total
amount (including commissions) is in euro.... and whatever I do, I can't
match them together!!

Funnily enough, I deleted the account and recreated the account in US$, but
the currency sign is still in ?. I have an another investment account in
british pound, and the currency sign is displayed correctly.

Enter the an amount in US$ and hit function key F8.

You can also search for "currency converter" in help.

I suspect the commission will be in euro. Won't the broker convert
the total to euro?

Note that the amount of US$ apparently paid will then vary as
currencies change. Add the US$ amount to the memo if you want to
maintain it.

Default Money 2005 SB: Currencies in Investment a/c

Hi all,

I have an investment account set up in Euro. I bought shares in US$ but
Money wants the amounts in Euro. How can I select to choose which currency
is for each investment?

Thanks,
Ivan
