| Cal, Thanks for that suggestion. Unfortunately, MSN Money Deluxe is not accessible from the link in the article. I did follow everything in the first article you cited. Do you think the Microsoft paid support would have an answer? I would pay if I knew they could resolve it. I am wondering where the installer popups are getting the info if I have supposedly wiped all "significant" signs of Money from the computer. (there are soem registry entries I saw when perusing the registry that I did not remove since the article did not ask me to do so.) thoughts? Here is the event error I see most. Detection of product '{E7298FD5-1386-11D5-8D6C-0050DAD32D95}', feature 'feat.Program' failed during request for component '{F384A307-E20F-11D4-8CC5-0050DAD32D95}' ALso am seeing this one sometimes: Detection of product '{CF5193F7-6B37-11D5-B7D2-00AA00A204F1}', feature 'feat.SystemPerm' failed during request for component '{C50ED491-8358-4351-89DA-33E1EF15BE2A}' Sam "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Sam K wrote: > > > BUT, my computer would not allow me to install 2006 because 20202 could not > > be uninstalled through normal means. | Please help. EXTENSIVE BACKGROUND I used to have Money 2002 and it worked just fine. After installing SP2 over one year ago, I kept getting mysterious popups about inserting the Money CD. After a while, I thought if I purchased Money 2006, it would fix the problem, so that's what I did in August. BUT, my computer would not allow me to install 2006 because 20202 could not be uninstalled through normal means. I have been advised in orther posts to manually remove Money 2002 foloowing several kb articles. I have done this. There is no trace of Money as far as I can tell, except some registry entries. (but not the ones I was told to remove) STILL, I continue to get annoyoing windows installer popups (though less frequent)and I still cannot install Money 2006 or even reinstall Money 2002 as both generate an error "setup bootstrapper has encountered a problem" and demand to be closed. I have already tried the Windows INstall Cleanup Utility. Money is not one of the choices on the list. I have also done a chkdsk and even purchased & run Registry mechanic. Please tell me what is the next step to resolve this? I desperately need to put SOME version of Money back on my PC. Thank you for your time. |
