| Jim, if you're still wondering how to correct that thermometer thing, I contacted Microsoft and the way to do it is by starting in your Money budget that you may have set up. If your budget includes subcategories then you will not be able to display an "all" thermometer for that category. So the thing to do is go into the budget option and look for the category that you want to show "all" transactions for. Then remove the subcategories. Now you should be able to display all transactions under one thermometer. |

| It does round it up. Even if I set my limit as 50.50, the limit on the thermometer is shown as $51. I've done some more testing on the thermometers, and it looks like in 2004, the functionality may be different than when I last played with this in depth. It seems to be only applying the thermometer to the category and ignoring the subcategories when I already have transactions under one of the subcategories. So I tried deleting all the subcategories. This then allowed me to setup a themometer for the category that specified [all]. Then, when I added a subcategory, I was able to setup a themometer for the subcategory and also keep my category thermometer with the [all] description. So it can be done, although it looks like you'll need to do some juggling of categories to get it to do this. | Another problem with the display that I found while playing around with the options. I selected the category Automobile and checked it. This showed up as "Automobile: All Other." There was a charge of $13 in this category. I clicked to see what the transaction was. It turned out to be a charge of $12.50 for the annual safety inspection. The curious thing is that I had that as a separate sub-category, and the transaction was correctly recorded with that sub-category. So, not only is the thermometer not showing what I want, namely all Automobile expenses, it isn't even showing me the correct total for the All Other category. | I did better than that: I cleared out ALL the thermometers. I still get "All others" instead of "All." Is there supposed to be some option to check to choose all? I don't have any choice available. | Bonnie, I tried that as well and could not get it to work. I did find that one of my overall categories: Leisure was able to show all transactions, but a couple of my other ones didn't act the same. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Did you clear all the other spending thermometers for that category? > "The Other Jim Hargrove (Austin)" <selenops[at]hotmail.comwrote in message > news:eeB2XI0aDHA.2476[at]tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... > > That doesn't seem to work. | Did you clear all the other spending thermometers for that category? | That doesn't seem to work. When I tried this, I wasn't able to select "All" only "All other." This appears to be a problem when using subcategories.
