| Thank you all for your responses, And Andrea, I'm sorry for hijacking your post... But my answer to your question is that I haven't found a way to do this and I don't think there is. Thank again all, Matt Kirk Dick Watson wrote: - quote - > As noted, **reports** are the path to Excel via .CSV. | As noted, **reports** are the path to Excel via .CSV. If you can't coerce a report to show it, you are running out of options pretty quickly. There really is no other workable way to get the data out. As for budgeting for different periods, it all works out with math. Kinda like what Money does internally. You tell it per week, it uses the per month equivalent =weekly_amt*52/12. | Hi Matthew, I'm actually using Standard Money 2005, but I'm pretty sure I did the same thing with Money 2002. Basically I went through the budget creation process. (To get an idea of all the catagories and spending) then once the budget was created I went into "view reports". "view reports" gives you the option of monthly or annual budget. The annual budget report breaks the year down into months. Catagories and subcatagories are included. (Which ones was detirmined in the budget creation process). Once the budget report loads, you have some options to export to Excel, which will be in csv format. Once in excel you can do lots of neat things to tidy it up. I only wish I could then get it back into money. Hope this helps. | Good Evening Dick, Thanks for your reply. What I want to export I haven't been able to find in any reports, but just in case anyone has found a way to incorporate it in a report, I'll go over what I'm looking for. If I go into the Budget screen and click on the link at the top for Expenses to edit them, I get atable of Budget Groups with Category:SubCategories for each one. Each SubCategory has a Period (Monthly, Yearly, Twice a month, etc) and an Amount (ie $50 / month) And in the case of Custom, you can set the amount per month, as I'm sure you know. What I'd like to do is get this information to Excel. Has anyone found a way to do this? Thanks again, Matt Kirk Dick Watson wrote: - quote - > Create the report that suits your purpose, using Customize liberally. > R-click on the report. | Create the report that suits your purpose, using Customize liberally. R-click on the report. Select the Export to Excel choice. If you can't create a report that has what you want, you are probably out-of-luck. | Good Afternoon CalamanteA, I know this is off the oposite of what you're looking for, but it's exactly what I've been looking for. How exactly do you "export a budget from Money into a CSV file (or Excel)"? What version are you using? What information is exported? Does this include the Budget Group, Category, SubCategory, Period, Amount, and even Custom Month Amounts (Jan - Dec)? Thank you in advance for any information, Matt Kirk CalamanteA wrote: - quote - > I would like to import a previously prepare budget into Money. > Money has the ability to export a budget from Money into a CSV file (or > Excel). > Since trying to edit the money budget is particularly tedious I would like > to be able to edit the CSV file (which is quite easy) and then import it into > Money. > Does anyone know how to do this? | If you don't get any more replies, do not assume we don't care. Assume nobody knows how to do it. | I would like to import a previously prepare budget into Money. Money has the ability to export a budget from Money into a CSV file (or Excel). Since trying to edit the money budget is particularly tedious I would like to be able to edit the CSV file (which is quite easy) and then import it into Money. Does anyone know how to do this? (I am currently using Money 2005, Australian edition) Thanks. |
