If he was using Money 2004 and he tried a later version of Money,
the later version would have saved a backup of his Money 2004 as
*.m12 before converting the Money file. If he wants to return to
that point, he should Start-> Search his machine for "*.m12".

If he was using the web version (moneycentral.msn.com), he had to
have a Passport.

Default "Sudden" new password for longtime money user?! Please help!

Hey all ...

I have a friend who has been using money for quite some time. At last
check, I notice they have money 2004 installed but have been using some
"web" version of Money ... it runs in the browser. Now, when he tries
to open his old money backups he gets prompted for a password he claims
he did not set (the password he used to use no longer works).

After doing some more research (and using Money 2006 trial) it seems
the locked up backups have been converted or are otherwise now in
2005/2006 format. When I try to open with 2006 I get prompted for both
username/password and a passport account. My friend claims he never had
a passport account and only used "money" passwords in the past. Is this
possible? If so, any way to get around the passport login?

Thanks very much in advance for ANY help.
