Default Re: Restoring Backup

Whether or not it's a license violation to install it onto your laptop
depends on the license. The retail licenses (as opposed to OEM supplied with
the machine by the vendor) allow both a desktop and laptop installation.

You don't say which version of Money but some of the newer ones may--I don't
know for sure--not be supported on 98SE.

It shouldn't have a problem restoring from the backup from the USB
drive--assuming the system sees the USB drive--but the better way to go is
to transfer a copy of the data file itself rather than the backup. Backups
seem to be slightly less reliable for many people.

You don't say what version you are running. IF M05, beware of the potential
trap outlined at http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=177.

Default Restoring Backup

I have installed Money on my desktop and started downloading transactions
into it. My desktop runs windows XP.
I want to install Money onto my laptop (Windows 98SE) then load the data
that I have already entered into the desktop that I can work with the
transactions ( that I will have backed up onto a USB drive) whilst I am away.
A) Is this a breach of copyright ?( I seem to remember something in the
agreement saying I was able to load it onto a backup computer)
B) Will I have a problem with recognising trying to restore the data off
the USB drive onto the older machine with an older operating system?
