| Unfortunately, the last Canadian version that truly worked properly was Money 2000 (which was available in a Canadian Deluxe version). All "upgrades" since then have just been the US standard version with a few tweaks for Canada, with a LOT of glitches (there is a lot of stuff, particularly with respect to tax calcutlations, tracking cost bases, etc. that is just different between US and Canada and using the US version even with Canadian settings just doesn't get it right) I have avoided upgrading until a few months ago when I got a new computer with Money 2005 pre-loaded, and decided to give it a try. Found so many problems and things that just didn't work right (that worked in Money 2000 Canadian) that after trying it for two weeks I cleaned it 2005 off my system and re-installed my old (and working) Money 2000. Note that there were a few problems doing that as MS no longer supports Money 2000, so if you install from an original CD you will be missing a number of essential fixes. Essentially I had to copy the working Money 2000 application from my old computer (which included patched version of files no longer on the MS server, then examine the registry and add missing entries by hand - a real pain in the .... If you don't have access to a computer which has a working Money 2000 Canadian version, you are probably out of luck. | I would like to upgrade to Money 2006. But I see that the Canadian Version is based on the Standard Edition, and this software is missing some very usefull features such as Cash Flow Analysis. Is it possible that MS will develop a Canadian Edition that is closer to the Deluxe version? I also see in the 2003 Canadian version that when I choose retirement savings accounts, I'm given many option that pertain to US RSP regulations (401K, etc) and none that are more Canadian specific. Surely it wouldn't be too hard to develop a Canadian version that is of more benefit to the majority of Canadian users? Besides, we all know that Bill Gates and other MS executives enjoy coming up to Whistler for skiing, I bet they want all of us to be using MS Money and not Quicken! s |
