You should not have attempted to convert your UK file. You should> thought the file was corrupted. Fortunately, Money 2006 made a copy of your UK file as it existed original. That copy is named *.m12. I would copy that file to something like WillCaz04.mny, and File-> Open it with Money 2004 UK. Money 2004 will remember to use that file thereafter. - quote - > Can someone advise how I can use the UK and U.S. versions of Money without > the U.S. version preventing me from accessing the UK file? The versions can run one-at-a-time. You are content to continue using your UK software with your UK file, and to use your US Money 2006 with a new file. Right? If not, there is another possibility: you can do QIF export from your UK software, and Import in the US software. You can maintain separate files. So comment if you want to do the QIF export/import. There are some techniques to maximize the success there. Don't forget to review your backup strategy. What if that hard drive fails? Use USB flash drives for backup. |

| Hi, I have been using Money 2004 UK version for all my accounts (UK and U.S. based). Now I live in the U.S. and just installed Money 2006 Premium (U.S. version) on the same laptop. Since I my salary is in US$ and I pay into a 401(k), I want to use the U.S. version's budgeting and planning features, but since I have accounts and investments in the UK, I want to retain and analys/ze those accounts using my UK Money package. When I installed the U.S. version, it tried to convert my UK .mny file but thought the file was corrupted. Later, I uninstalled the US version of Money and tried to use my pre-existing .mny file in the UK version, but it wouldn't recognis/ze my password. I created a new money file for my US accounts with a separate name, but still couldn't access the existing file. Can someone advise how I can use the UK and U.S. versions of Money without the U.S. version preventing me from accessing the UK file? I'm happy to set up the new U.S. .mny file from scratch under a completely different name to the UK one. Help! Thanks, WillCaz |
