| Do you have the MSKB # for this? (I can't find it--perhaps it's just hasn't been vetted and legally watered down and so on enough to get in the public MSKB yet.) I'd like to get it in the UFAQ. This will be a relevant post for lots of people--indeed I already wish we'd posted that to one thread (this one?) earlier this week. | This error is due to enhancements made to the security of Money 2006. Money 99 and earlier data files require versions of dll files that Money 2006 no longer installs. RESOLUTION: To work around this issue, you will need to do a step conversion to allow Money 2006 to read your data. We have made the Money 2004 Deluxe Trial available for you to work through this process. 1. Uninstall Money 2006. 2. Change your system date to: 12/31/2004 3. Connect to http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...D/M12USWEB.exe 4. Choose Open to download the M12USWEB.exe file. 5. When prompted, "Do you want to install Microsoft Money" choose Yes. This will start the installation of Money 2004 Trial. Once the trial is completely installed: 1. Open Money 2004. 2. Open your Money 99 or earlier data file and choose Yes to convert the file. If you still receive an error when trying to convert the data file, your file may be damaged. For further information on troubleshooting damaged data files, click on the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: 182608 How to diagnose and repair damage in a Money data file 3. When you have successfully converted your data file to Money 2004, Install Money 2006. 4. After installing Money 2006, open the file you just used in Money 2004 and choose Yes to convert. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | Hi all, I am running Money 98 on a Windows 98 machine. I have a new machine that is running Windows XP Pro. I downloaded the Money 2006 Trial version to see if I can bring my Money 98 files in. When I try to open the Money 98 file I receive the following message: "The file maybe corrupted or is not a Money file. If you chose the correct file and it would not open, you can try to repair this file or restore a recent backup" I have tried to repair the file but was told that the database was invalid. When I try to restore from a backup, it says that the file cannot be located, is read only, or that I do not have the permissions to do this. Is this occurring because I am using the trial application? I thought from reading other posts that the file could be converted if it was done on an XP machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! Greg |
