| I've been using Money 2005 ( quite happily ) for nearly a year now and am trying to transfer the pgm. to another machine as I am breaking down the machine it currently runs on. After the initial install and when I first start 2005 I go thru the normal .passport stuff and it identifies me and appears to be attempting to open the sample ( or whatever ) my money.mny file it creates. I never see the main page but get the ol' internal error message and a note about msofd.dll. Now I'm not one to try to get help right away so I did my research and all the msofd.dll errors I found were dealing with a corrupt money file or portfolio. I never can get to the main opening page !! Well I tried copying my current money file over to the new machine and attempted going in the "back door" by clicking on the mny file and attempted to start Money via the file association route. Money identified my current 2005 file as a 2004 version file and wanted to know if it should convert it. I said sure then it tells me it can't find it or it's locked. Well it's where it found it and it's sure not locked! So I can't go in the front door and I can't go in the back door so I am really looking for suggestions on how to get this &%(!% thing to install so that I can at least get to the main page. Just for info purposes this is a fresh XPsp2 install with the basics installed . TIA JimBob "Master of the Sr. Moment" remove the "invalid" for personal response |

I'm going back to a fresh Win98SE install for the moment prior to an XP> passport and see if that gets you the download. upgrade. I'll take all these suggestions into account when doing the new install. If nothing else I'm getting pretty good with various OS install options though. Thanks for suggestions !!! JimBob |

The main sticking point here is that I can't get to the main Money page to do anything. I'm stopped both at the front and back doors. I'm gonna keep looking .... Jim Bob |

I could be you're trying to open a newer 2005 file than the fresh install of 2005 can recognize. Try creating a new file with your fresh install and see if money updates itself. If so, then try your old 2005 file. Hope that helps. |
