After using the msmoney.exe -s thing, within 2001, it does say my
file is corrupted, but then goes ahead and opens it. I'm at a total
loss for how to fix it now....

If I do this, can I uninstall the trial and use my purchased Microsoft Money 2002?

Thank you once again for answering. I have tried the salvage utility
download that you refer to, also the salvage on the 2001 cd and the
one on the 2002 cd. None of them find any errors at all, although they
all must compress the records I believe, because each of them produces
a smaller file.

How exactly do I do that? I thought this was the proper forum since it
is on Microsoft's site??

Might be worthwhile downloading the M2004 trial and seeing if that will do
the upgrade.

The version of salv.exe you can download via
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;274584 may
be newer.

You may want to contact Microsoft directly to see if they can help.

Thank you for answering. No, I've never installed a trial version of
03 or 04. I have been running Money 2001 for about 2 years now, and I
purchased Money 2002. I have browsed to find the file. I have copies
of my file in multiple directories, as I have run "salvage" in
different versions, each in their own folder. I have used 2001 with
this file up until Friday, so I know it is a .mny 2001 file. After I
uninstalled 2002 and reinstalled 2001, the program picked right up on
my file again with no problem. Please help, I've read of this problem
elsewhere but I haven't seen a solution. I would be willing to send my
file to someone if they think they can find what is wrong with it. It
works fine in 2001. All I have on my system are .mny and .mbf files,
none of which will open in Money 2002 (but they're all snapshots of
the same file, I only use one) I wanted to upgrade so that I could use
the online services that 2001 doesn't support.
Thank you.

It might be as simple as choosing Browse to a location instead of
choosing the default location.

More likely you tried the Money 2003 or Money 2004 trial which
converted your file. Do a Start-> Search for "*.mn9,*.m10" without
the quotes on your hard drive(s) for the backup for your Money 2001
or Money 2002 that the trial would have created.
