Yes. Accumulated Depreciation is a contra-asset account. Set up the asset
account for the vehicle, called 'Car' for example. Enter a beginning balance
of the undepreciated acquisition cost, plus capital improvements such as a
rebuilt engine. Set up the accumulated depreciation account and call it
'Car - Accumulated Depreciation' for example.

Enter depreciation transactions in 'Car - Accumulated Depreciation
categorized as 'Depreciation Expense', dated as of the dates where you
recorded the depreciation (end of past financial years?). The combination of
Car and Car - Accumulated Depreciation should be the present value of the
car. When you dispose of the car, you'll have to zero out both the car and
the accumulated depreciation.

I just started using Money 2006. I was using Peachtree last year. My ending
balances from Peachtree are going to be my beginning balances for some
categories like Depreciation - Vehicle. Do I set this up as an account, like
my checking? Thanks.

I am not sure what you are asking, but you can use an expense
category for a deposit to an account. Accept the warning.
