Yes, I am using passport. I have not changed it recently.

Ok. Tried that. No change.

(Thanks for the suggestions, by the way.)

Yes. Ownership is preserved over the network I think. It is not
preserved on a FAT file system.

It was not a match exactly. It involved getting the
http://moneycentral.msn.com/scripts/....dll?iPage=pmx
portfolio working. Since they are somewhat tied together, it is
possible that there might be some strange interaction. It's a long
shot.

Does your file have a Passport on it? Don't try changing your
Passport while you are having problems.

I have already tried this on another machine. Are you saying that copying
the file onto a flash drive is different than copying it via the network?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the fix on that discussion you posted
the link to was just to have money restore the backup.

http://www.mcse.ms/message1480434.html mentions that DLL.

I think I would try installing Money 2005 (or even the Money 2006
deluxe trial) on a different computer. Copy the .mny and .mbf files
to your My Documents folder (via a USB flash drive) to the other
machine. See if there is any better result there.

Good. Had you said 3 MB, I would have been worried.

MS Support said I'm SOL.

I have not tried '06. Is that really feasable that it could handle the
file?

Open of mny file = "Microsoft Money Error Reporting...We're sorry but
Microsoft Money has experienced and internal error and will hav to
restart..." The error occurs in myisam05.dll, 0xc0000005 (Access Violation)
This occurs after I enter my password.

Same thing with the restore.

The files are 12.6 MB.

Make extra copies of what you have on different media.

If you are in the US, have you tried using Money Deluxe 2006 trial
on the files?

I would contact Microsoft support. Perhaps they can suggest
something for you.

What happens when you try to File-> Open the .mny file? What happens
when you File-> Restore your .mbf file?

How large are these files?

Default MS Money Standard 2005 - Corrupted MNY and MBF files

Hello,

My mny file and my most recent backup mbf are corrupted and can't be
repaired or restored. My most recent prior backup is from May 3rd.

I need to repair either my recent backup or my mny file desperately. Can
anyone recommend a money file repair company; or better yet point me to a
money file specification so that I can fix it myself. I'm a programmer so
I'm willing to get into the file and remove the offending transaction or
bytes.

I can't help but think that this has something to do with the most recent
windows update. I understand the corruption of the mny file (the internet
connection went down during an online update); but the mbf not working?
Doesn't really make sense.

I've uninstalled and re-installed money. I've tried it on another computer.
I've tried both the quick and standard repair. No matter what; it just wont
open or restore.
