I had a long talk with one of the broker's techs -- are shown in MsMoney's account list, despite the fact that for each of those a cash register can be selected for display when the account is opened. This cash register can also be installed as a toolbar button with the Investing View of the Shortcuts, but as far as I can manage, cannot be renamed in the toolbar. - quote - > I don't know if I will be able to actually help. An interesting suggestion: it could work if only I could access the> create a new file with the proper type accounts pre-created. According to the tech with whom I spoke, Quicken handles this situation correctly, but I'm not about to go back to it... And also according to the tech, Quicken and Money are the only two programs the broker supports. Thank you for your attention, Cal; it has helped me analyze Money's funtions more closely than I would have otherwise. T. |

Then do the download, and see if you can match or merge the downloaded accounts with the existing accounts. I would like to hope that customer service of that broker would know how to make this play. What I am used to is an investment account that has a cash transactions account that you can write checks with. Perhaps you could merge Checking to one of those cash accounts. I have not had that kind of thing to deal with. - quote - > T. |

They are from the same broker and all five appear to be investment> from your broker? accounts, as suggested by the following sequence: 1. Banking tab > Account List tab > Account List screen shows all my accounts. 2. Clicking on any one of them, shifts the display to Investing tab Investing Tools tab > Account Register. At the left of that screen, the selections under the View category are Account Summary, Investment Transactions, Cash Transactions. Investment Transactions is surrounded by a dotted line frame. The account displayed in the scrolling list at the right of Account Register is the account which I selected from the Account List. Selecting Cash Transactions changes the register to the checking register I want to access, and the scrolling list displays an account which does not appear in the Account List. This is the account which, needless to say, I want to show in my Account List, but which I don't seem to be able to access for that purpose. - quote - > If you right-click the accounts, and choose SeeAccountSettings, a

| After downloading into a new file all the available data from my broker, MsMoney 2006 Standard Edition created five generically labeled accounts (Investment #1, #2...) which I renamed appropriately IRA, Trade, etc. The Account list under the Banking tab contains all of them and only them. Two of them, Banking and Card, display an Investment register by default; I can select the more useful Transactions register as needed, but I cannot make it the default. At the same time, the scrolling list of Shortcuts > Toolbar Display Settings > Available contains the original generic labels along with the renamed ones, and as it turns out, toolbar buttons for two of those initial labels do display the Transaction registers I want. But... I cannot access those labels to rename them with recognizable names. What must I do now? I would be grateful for any help in that regard. T. |
