I defragged just the other day. Unfortunately, I need to use Passport, so
that won't help. Thanks for your help anyway!

Maybe you could get it down to 1:40 by defragmenting your drive.

You might try opening a copy of your file and removing the Passport,
if you use one. See if that improves the speed.

Thanks for the speedy response!!

Unfortunately, I checked and compression was already turned off. I'm
backing up to my hard drive. I just closed again and it took 1 3/4 minutes.

If you set the backup to back up to the hard drive and tell it not
to compress, that should speed things. Tools-> Options-> Backup.
However the 3 minutes seems excessive.

Are you maybe backing up to a really slow device or over a network?
In that case, not compressing could make it slower, I guess.

Default Closing Money takes several minutes.

Hi

I use Money 2004 on XP.

When I close Money it takes several minutes (3 or more)before it actually
closes. I get alot of hard drive activity while it's closing. I assume it's
taking a long time to backup the file. Is this normal or is there a way to
speed up the process (without disabling the backup)?

Thanks!
