Thanks - if it stays a problem with ghost items in my budget I will
export/import.

Deleting then recreating scheduled Bills or Deposits is a nightmare because
the deleted stuff never actually goes away. Never, ever no matter what.
Over the years I had to do this many, many times as our finances changed and
my accounting methods improved. The ultimate result was massive degradation
in the performance of Money and the ultimate solution was to recreate my
Money file by exporting all data then importing it back into a new file.
This procedure is massively arduous but it does get rid of old "ghost" items
in your scheduled bills and budget. My old file was somewhere in the
neighborhood of 15 years old so it lasted a long time.

The immediate cure to double budget entries may be resolved by editing the
bill/deposit you want to get rid of by using the "This series will end at
some time" option in the Edit dialog. Check the box, enter zero in the
number of transactions remaining then enter a date in the past in the Date
of Final Transaction box. I generally put Dec 31 of the prior year in that
box. This technique almost always works right off. Sometimes I have to
fiddle with different dates and sometimes Money will not accept zero in the
No of Trans remaining box so I use 1. This might require that you enter a
final dummy transaction in the register then delete the dummy transaction.
At that point the ghost budget item will disappear. In any event this
approach allowed me to get rid of every ghost item that came up over the
years. These ghost items are not gone however and remain hidden somewhere
in Money forever until you do the export/import routine to purge the file of
this stuff.

See my other thread titled "Rebuilding a file in 2006". I can't recommend it
just for getting rid of a few ghost bills.

I am having the ghost problem with a couple of scheduled bills I deleted
or moved to a different category. If anyone knows of a way to get rid
of them that would be great.

Thanks

If you deleted and recreated scheduled bills, you might end up with
duplication in the budget. The bills appear as though they still exist, but
you can't edit them. They're 'ghosts'. If this is the case, there's an
arduous workaround, but it can be fixed. Another respondent probably can
cite a KB link or a FAQ.

Default doubling up in budgets

I know a few other people have come across this...

when I create an advanced budget using autobudget, I end up with several
amounts doubled up when I check budget v spending.

for example, my income is doubled up, even though it only shows up once in
the budget setup.
also, my monthly home loan payment, classed as debt, also shows up twice.

werid thing is, it only does it for last month, not current month!
