It deletes the older after the newer has been successfully written, but it leaves a zero-length file hanging around. So Jake won't fill up his Flash drive. That is not the case for Money 2006 in the case of Flash drive; you have to delete the older ones yourself eventually as the drive fills. It's a bug that it will not trim the scheduled backups as it will for the hard drive. But even with that, I like that a lot better than the Money 2005 way because it saves multiple backup versions with attention required every few months depending on Flash drive size. I don't know what it does with a Zip. What happens is dependent on version. |

Regardless of the version - IS there or is there NOT a solution to the original issue - Money to OVERWRITE the backup file on portable media (diskette, USB, ZIP disk etc)? And if you do not know - just say so - it is not a mortal sin to admit such things. |

You are using Money 2005 and the backup to a USB drive does not delete the older scheduled backup to "floppy"? You get a series of big .mbf files on that USB drive? |

They are also more reliable than floppies. file. And USB drives also have finite capacity - at some point one starts running out of room there too. |

The best solution would be to use a USB drive instead of a floppy.> from the previous backup from the diskette. If I do not then Money > complains there is not enough space on the disk. Have more than enough space for two backups, and things should work nicely. They are also more reliable than floppies. |

| When I backup to a diskette using Money 2005 I have to remove the file from the previous backup from the diskette. If I do not then Money complains there is not enough space on the disk. Previous versions of Money would over write the old file. Any ideas on how to correct this annoying behavior would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jake |
