| One possibility she could create a cash account for each property. Name the cash account Property A, the next cash account Property B, etc. Then she can enter all expenses as spending in each property cash account. Then by using some customize reports she could then track the whole year for each property. You just have to be content with seeing a negative value all the time. If you experiment with different account types you may find another one that works out better. Otherwise another alternative is needed. | Money will track expenses for rental properties very well. Not in a spreadsheet format but better. Money reports will list all expenses by individual property for any period of time you like. All you have to do is setup the categories or classifications properly and this will be easy. There are many ways to do this but I don't think it you can expect anyone here to go back and forth with you or her working out the specific details. If she is not capable of doing this on her own I believe hiring someone who can do it is the only reasonable solution. | An old-fashioned accounting pad and a pencil? Money is what it is. It offers no UI that matches your requirement. | I help friends, neighbors, and such with their computer questions. I am helping a woman that manages properties, she has Microsoft Money 2005 standard. The question is, she needs to set up a spreadsheet like format in MS Money. Unfortunately she does not have a spreadsheet on her brand new Compaq. All she needs is a way to track expenses by properties with the properties listed on the left side of the page and expenses listed on the right. She needs to be able to track the entire year so she can print out the entire thing come tax season. She is way not computer literate and teaching her to use a spreadsheet would not work here. What she needs is something that is very simple and does what she needs it to do. Anybody got any ideas? Thank-you in advance. Jake jgcspardees[at]juno.com |
