Default Re: Problem with setting up categories

I learned this one the hard way. In Money, moving categories does not move
categories. Instead, it moves all the items in the category and deletes the
old category.

What you must do is manually create the new category, then using the move
categories feature, move all the items in the category to the new category.
Since you have already moved the items, you must search each item out
individually, then move it to your new category.

Category move does not work the way you think it does. If you want to move
category Drivers License to be a subcategory of automobile, move Drivers
License to Automobile : Drivers License. You must re-specify the subcategory
or it will do just what you ask.

Default Problem with setting up categories

Hi,

I am having problems setting up my categories. I am doign the following:

1. I went to Banking > Account Tools > Categories & Payees
2. New > Create a New Category
3. I enter in "Drivers Licence" as an expense.

I see "Drivers Licence" listed in the EXPENSE section of my categories. I
now want to move "Drivers Licence" to my "Auto" category so i will have
"Auto - Drivers Licence". I do the following:

4. Right-click "Drivers License" and select "Move"
5. Select Category = "Auto"

Drivers Licence disappears! and isnt listed under "Auto"... whats going on?
How do i create an "Auto - Drivers Licence" category?

Maybe thanks!
Peter
