| It just means that it is automatically updating already in the background. When it finishes, you will be able to do another update if you wish. It would get very confusing if it could do two updates ro the same dataset at once. | I may have earlier versions of my current file.. but generally, no. I save a bout 1-2 months of backup files, created automatically when I close Money. I don't use Passport. Never did. -- Aloke ---- to reply by e-mail remove 123 and change invalid to com <johnbusc[at]hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1127502184.649807.304000[at]g14g2000cwa.googlegroups.com... - quote - > Aloke, > Do you have other data files besides the 25MB one? | I hadn't seen this behavior until today.. and my file size is 25 MB or so.. I consider this a bug. Afterall, without Passport, Money should be doing on-line activity (including program updates) only on demand, and not in the background. -- Aloke ---- to reply by e-mail remove 123 and change invalid to com <johnbusc[at]hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1127492628.145126.289940[at]f14g2000cwb.googlegroups.com... - quote - > Aloke, > Depending on who you talk to the behavior is either a bug or a feature. > Regardless, on opening a Money 2006 data file, there may be a > background update process that, in my experience, is proportional in > length of time to the size of the data file. | Aloke, Depending on who you talk to the behavior is either a bug or a feature. Regardless, on opening a Money 2006 data file, there may be a background update process that, in my experience, is proportional in length of time to the size of the data file. To determine approximately how long before you can do your own update, use Task Manager to see when the msmoney.exe process subsides to near zero CPU percentage just after first opening. This can sometimes be on the order of 8-10 minutes in my experience! After that you should have no problem doing a manual update. Regards, JB |

| What on earth does that message mean? It is preventing me from performing any online activity in Money 2006 I am not using Passport or MSN features. Only OFX downloads. If I do a quick repair, it seems to allow me to update, once. After that, it displays the same error message. It does this even if I try an update as the very first thing on opening Money. There should be no online activity in progress at that time, AFAIK. -- Aloke ---- to reply by e-mail remove 123 and change invalid to com |
