| The payment options available are based upon the type of account and what online features are available for it. Reference: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;173135 Basically, in order for "xfer" to be a payment option, the financial institution has to enable it through their direct (OFX) statements offering. -Mark "Eric" <epayne11[at]nospam.postalias> wrote in message news:%23weiurQwFHA.664[at]tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... - quote - > Roy, > No, Maybe I am not explaining this issue very well. > Inside Money 2006, under the bills section. | I pay all my bills using my bank's online bill pay. That's not an option either, so all mine say "other." It doesn't really make any difference, besides looking stupid. Now, if we were talking about asset allocation, that would be different. Having all my blended funds marked "other" is ridiculous. "Payment Method" really doesn't do anything. Why do you care? | The word choices you see are the word choices you get. Some of them are backed by some internal logic. Others just look nice. Either way, the list is what it is. | Roy, No, Maybe I am not explaining this issue very well. Inside Money 2006, under the bills section. Click on "new" the "bill". now on this page there is a field called "Payment method" (sorry, it is not called payment type like I said before). This is a description of the method used to pay this bill. For example a water bill paid to the public service department might have a payment method of "write check" or maybe "Direct Debit". Basically what I am asking for is too add more payment methods to this field. Transfer (Automatic) - I would use when I have something scheduled for an automatic transfer of money to a loan for example. Transfer (Manual) - I would use when I want to pay a credit card bill. | Cara, Not quite what I am looking for. On a new bill there is a "Payment Type" filed. Right now I can choose from a small list like "Write Check", "Direct Deposit", "Other", etc. I would like to add to this list the following fields "Transfer (Automatic)" and "Transfer (Manual)". Now I don't really nessesary want money to do this for me (meaning transfer money for me) I just want to be able to show this payment type. thanks "Cara" <Cara[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6B27E189-7403-4856-8C7D-F5D9C538F42C[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Hi Eric, > Now I see what you're asking. | Hi Eric, Now I see what you're asking. The way the posts get rendered sometimes, it's hard to see what I'm reading. On the bill input screen, there's an option to auto "post" to the account. I use this for certain transfers that I know are going to happen on a certain date for the amount specified. I set the post number of days before due date to 0 so it gets posted on the date I specified. Does that help you any? (Sorry, I'm trying to do this from memory) |

| Steve, Thank you for your reply. I agree with what you are saying. I think I am looking for more of just a way to manually add a payment type so I can visually see it in money, I don't nessessarly want money to act on this payment type. | Cara, Thank you for your reply. I have changed the bills section over to advanced and now I do see a few more options in the payment type list, but I am still unable to add a payment type. Right now I am just using other. Is there any way of adding to this list of payment types? | Eric, the best "help" I can offer is: do your transactions manually in Money. You expect everything to be done automatically for you in Money. It just doesn't work that way all the time as you can see by the posts here. Use your own brain to have Money reflect the data the way YOU want it to show. It is a lot easier than spending all your time trying to figure out how Money "should" do things automatically. JMHO from a 10 year user of the product. Steve |

| Eric, Do you have “essential” or “advanced” bills turned on? There should be a little gear-looking icon on the upper right-hand side of the page. The last time I ran into this problem, where I couldn’t create transfers on the bills list, just bills, it was because I was setup for “essential” bills. I think that little icon is clickable to change it to “advanced” if memory serves. I don’t have my copy of Money06 in front of me at the moment. |

| I am using Money 2006 and I have to manually add my accounts into money because my banks statements exports have the same account number for both checking and savings causing files to just merge. Manually importing them (after editing the tmp file) allows me to manage two seperate accounts. I am trying to enter a new bill that I have that is automatically transfered from one money market account at my bank to a loan account at the same bank. this is an automatic transfer and I never have to do anything. When I add the bill the only payment method I get is "Write a check". Well this isn't correct, I would like to add "Transfer (automatic)" and "Transfer (Manual)" to the list, but I don't see where this can be done. I hope, since money can't be connected automatically to my bank for there dumb reason that money doesn't just prevent your from at least adding a payment method even though money itself won't be doing the transfer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
