Thanks, I hope Microsoft eventually has a fix for this.

I see the same thing. At first I figured it was just me, but there
have been a couple other reports like yours. The backup to the hard
drive on exit works fine in limiting the number of files for me.

The d1 part is because the scheduled backup can backup up to media
that does not have enough space to hold the whole backup. The d1 is
disk 1, and if there is not enough space on the volume, Money asks
you to insert another volume to continue that backup. That would
write *d2.mbf. In practice, if that happens to me, I abort the
backup. I free up space on the USB drive, and let the backup happen
next time. I don't want my backups spanning two USB flash drives.

Default Automatic Backup

I upgraded to Money 2006 Standard and set Automatic Backup to keep a maximum
of 3 files. I back up to a USB flash drive (memory). However, Money 2006
just keeps adding additional files everytime I close the program without
regard for the fact that I set it to keep only the most recent 3 backup
files. Also, the backup files are named "My Money Backup_(Date)_(Time)
d1.mbf". What's with the "d1"? Is that supposed to be part of the name? I
can't seem to get the program to back up without the "d1" as part of the
name? Thanks for any help.
