Not many we have control over. See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=4.

It's 13.9MB. Could there be some features running in background that causes
the sluggish operation at times?

Some things like this in Money take LONG periods of time during which the
application will be seen as not responding by Explorer. This doesn't mean it
isn't still working your problem. If you are intent on doing this, I'd start
it and go have a beer and a pizza and maybe a long night's sleep and a
shower in the morning before deciding the solution was to kill it.

Very few, if any, users have ever found archiving speeds up Money. Many have
hoped and been disappointed. (And that's before they discover the other
impacts it has on their data.) Still, new people show up hoping...

BTW, how large is large? Mine's pushing 60 MB in M04/70MB in M06. I wish it
were smaller and faster--I particularly wish it were a whole lot less
glacial in M06--but that seems to be the way it is.

To be more precise; money, and archive stop responding. So I have to shutdown
the process which also shuts down money. Once I restart money, my money file
appears to be corrupt, in that all my account balances are way off. At that
point I have to restore from my backup. My money file is large, so i was
trying to archive so that money would run faster. I have probably about 3-4
years of data.
Thanks!

You'd have to be more precise describing "it fails and destroys the
integrity of my file" if you want to get much constructive help. What
messages? What error reports? How are you finding the "integrity destroyed"?

In general, archiving doesn't do what many people expect it to, is utterly
irreversible, and serves no terribly useful purpose. Many of us have never
archived one item out of our data files. In my case, this goes back to 1993.

Default Archiving Fails!

When using Money 2005 or Money 2006, whenever I try to archive my money file,
it fails and destroys the integrity of my file. Is there a fix for this or
will this feature just not work?
