If you download the trial, you do not have to uninstall the earlier> problem? version. Be alert during install, however, because I think that installing the older version is a default at some point. You can have both 2004 and 2006 on your computer at the same time, installed into different folders. You can have them open, one at a time. The only caveats I can think of are the last-installed is set up with the file associations, so when you download an OFX or QIF, the last installed gets fed the file. To feed the file to both, save the file to disk, and do File-> Import to both. Just clicking a link sends the file to the last-installed. You could manually adjust the associations, or could reinstall 2004 to reset the associations. Also, I would have some concern if the you had same Passport on both files, but others have said that is not a problem. If you want to be able to open both versions alternately, I would copy your Money 2004 file to another filename such as Mon06.mny. If there is a Passport on the file, you could consider opening the copy with Money 2004 and remove the passport before converting. Again, if you don't do this, there may be no downside. I am just cautious. |

| I've seen a few threads on this topic, but nothing that seemed to resolve it. For the last 6 months I've intermittently had problems with one or more accounts having new transactions, but they were not showing up in the register. I've gone to backups from a few days earlier and that has fixed the problem. One time rebooting the computer was the only thing that got transactions to show up. This week its back, and in addition Money crashes when updating. Repair found some errors, but fixing them did not help. Have lots of daily backups, but they all had the same problem with crashing. So, I went back to early August for what seemed to be the best backup, and tried to update from that. However, then I started to get lots of transactions that were not visible. Depending on whether I did all accounts or just some, I got completely different results. Just completely confusing ¡V if I did all accounts only 1 Amex account had visible transactions. So, I tried to just do Amex and then none of the Amex accounts got any visible transactions. I cleared out everything in the cache, temp directory, everything else I could find and it didn¡¦t help. I've found some XML file in Money's webcache directory(s) that get created on downloads, and a few files in the temp directory, but deleting them made no difference. I then took the file to my wife's computer, which had never seen Money, did the update there and presto 9 of 10 accounts had visible transactions. However, I still can't get that one (which has 50+ new transactions) to be visible. I tried direct download, OFX, QIF, to no avail. Does anyone have a clue as to where this account information is stored? It certainly seems to be somewhere outside the Money file, but I can't find anything that looks relevant. Or, does anyone have a sense of whether M2006 will end up fixing the problem? Thanks TM |
