| I only use the paper statement only to get the closing balance and closing date. I enter those in the balancing process. Rarely does it not balance but, if it does not, I want the printed statement to use in resolving the error. You are correct that there is not, nor has there ever been, any function in Money like you describe from Quicken. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL DaveM wrote: - quote - > I never use my "paper" statement anymore. | I never use my "paper" statement anymore. I download each day and accept my transactions. I like to reconcile each day as well. In Quicken, the balance was downloaded along with all of the transactions, so when I clicked on "Reconcile" there was an option to use the downloaded balance. There doesn't seem to be anything like that in Money. I have to navigate to my bank's site, and look at the current balance, then enter it into Money... Very inconvienient... | I think some people have a concept of balancing their account essentially continuously with the bank, using downloaded data. I think Money's design is more attuned to balancing against the periodic printed account statement. I don't find that a problem. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL Gatorman98 wrote: - quote - > To reconcile you need to specify a date for reconciling and a balance. > When > I get my bank statement I type in the amount and date and it reconciles > very > fast. > Jeff > "DaveM" wrote: > > Hi, > > > I am a former Quicken user. | To reconcile you need to specify a date for reconciling and a balance. When I get my bank statement I type in the amount and date and it reconciles very fast. | Hi, I am a former Quicken user. Using quicken to reconcile an on-line enabled checking account, the account balance would be filled in after I downloaded the latest transactions. Now using Money, I have enabled my checking account for on-line use, and I am able to download transactions. However, when I reconcile (Balance) this account, the account balance box is blank. This forces me to go to my bank's web site to get the balance and fill it in. I hope that my copy of Money 2006 just has a bug... Is this not a feature of Money Deluxe 2006??? |
