Default Re: Money 2006 says it's a trial version

Same issues. Checked the MSN account I purchased 2006 Premium with, shows
'Cancelled'. Called customer support, explained the situation, was told that
all Microsoft could do was refund my purchase.

Problem - my purchase (upgrade) price was $67.95. Online purchase price is
$79.95. Both have the same $30 rebate (although I don’t know if I qualify
for a second rebate, since it states only one rebate per household). Sure, I
can purchase the boxed version elsewhere, or (more likely after this
experience) purchase a competitor's product. It seems to me that Microsoft
should stand by their original purchase price, since the error was COMPLETELY
theirs. As it stands, if I were foolish enough to follow Microsoft's advice
and re-purchase Premium after my original purchase has been credited, I'm out
an additional $12. Or perhaps more correctly, Microsoft stands to gain a $12
profit on their mistake, while I’ve wasted my time trying to resolve a
situation created solely by Microsoft.

I had read on another thread that MS had a problem and they cancelled
everyone one-time purchase accounts. So I call the 800 for customer
service listed in the post and the guy wants to send me to tech support.
I politely decline and read the post to him and he goes and talks to a
supervisor and concedes that the post is correct. I ask him to re-
enable my account like the poster had requested and he tells me he
can't. He says that my account says "cancelled" instead of "expired".
I ask how can you cancel a one time purchase. He tells me that all they
can do is refund my money and then I have to repurchase. They refunded
my money and I am considering switching to Acemoney since Money is
getting to be a real hassle. Anyway here is the post that I read to the

Joe... I was able to resolve my issue and it sounds like you may be able
to as well. It turns out that Microsoft had issues with the payments on
the web purchase and as a result they set everyone's account to
"expired". So when Money went to do the update it looked like my payment
was only good for 1 month.

You will need to go to http://billing.msn.com and sign in to see if you
show as expired as well. If you do you can call 1-866-672-4551 and ask
them to set it back to enabled. Their systems were down all day
yesterday and most of today, but they were back up as of around 6:30 PM
EST today so you shouldnt have any trouble when you call.

Thanks to all for the suggestions and advice. "

I too am having the same issue - and I'm pretty computer literate. I've
been using Money for quite a few years now, and I can't seem to get the
Trial warning to go away, and I have 9 days to get this resolved.

I've done the following:
Purchase:Microsoft Money 2006 Premium Upgrade (one-time charge of $67.95
plus tax)
My Credit Card (Visa: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)

I used the same passport - getting the data above was how I verified
this.

I've also created a blank money file, signed in with my .NET Passport,
and it still showed the Trial.

Any suggestions? I'll continue to read this thread to see if we come
to some resolution - aside from calling product support.

Bryan... Thank you very much for the inforamtion. I had the same issue and I
called and they reset it back to "enabled". I reinstalled Money from my
original downloaded file and everything is back to normal. I'm glad you
figured it out and let me know because I already wasted half the weekend
trying to figure it out on my own. Who knows how long it would've been before
I would've thought to check the billing?!!! I thought it was a one time
payment and I was done. Evidentally, it checks to see if you payed for it
every time you sign in! It's too bad that the Microsoft representative in the
newsgroup couldn't help us with this... I also don't think having the CD
media would of made any difference since it was our Passport accounts that
were hosing us up! Thanks again for the help!

I am having exactly the same problems with Money 2006 Standard. Like other
users on this topic, I have tried all the suggested solutions and had no
success. This is an extreme amount of work for what is supposed to be a very
simple program. I am pissed that I have had to spend over three hours of my
weekend, trying to make a piece of software work. Damn it Microsoft, get your
act together and issue a fix.

See http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;889930

Check your confirmation email that you got when you upgraded to see
if they identified what to do if there is a problem.

The firewall is my Windows 2003 Server basic firewall and I don't have any
problem getting the updates as said earlier: it says complete when it 's
done. I tried using another administrative account as suggested, it still
says trial version 15.0.10.513. What is wierd is that I have reinsalled
before without this problem...

It pops up and says that the updates are complete and to close and reopen the
application to "take advantage" of the updates. Its when you reopen the
program that it says it is a trial edition.

Not that I know of.

Are you using a software firewall, other than the XP one? I am not
saying that is the cause. Just asking in case there is some
commonality that people notice.

I would create a new XP Administrative user. I would invoke Money
and create a new Money file as that user. Use your same Passport.
Close Money. Open Money, and do Help-> About. What is the version
then?

After this, you can delete that user.

Well... I tried this and as soon as Money downloads it's updates and you
reopen the program it says that it is a trial version.

I purchased Money 2006 Premium, but it thinks that it is Money 2006 Trial
Edition. Is there someway that I'm supposed to register it other than just
signing in with my passport info?

Thanks

Default Re: Money 2006 says it's a trial version

I uninstalled and reinstalled Money using the original file I downloaded when
I purchased it. It does not say trial when I first install it. I opened my
mny file and logged in online using my passport and it appeared to work ok.
Then after I restart money, it pops up telling me its the trial version and
will expire in a month. I also tried creating a new mny file with my same
passport and rebooting. This has the same effect. I have reinstalled Money
before using the same file and did not have this problem. Is there a limit on
how many times or computers it can be installed on?

Yes... it is the only passport I have ever had. I tried going to the
Microsoft support site, but ran into a road block there because it doesnt
appear to recognize my product ID either.
