Default Re: Money on two computers.

Let me offer one more WARNING: If you are going to use a shared Money data
file, you MUST make sure that ONLY ONE of the machines has any hint of
Money--including things like Money Express--running against that data file
at any one time. Failure to observe this limitation is highly likely to
corrupt your data file and render your data inaccessible since Money
incorporates no record locking provisions for multi-user access. Repair
using the repair tools may or may not solve the problem. The privacy concern
sharing the data over the WiFi is a relatively low probability and low risk
of privacy data exposure. The corrupted data concern is a high probability
and high risk of loss of access by you to your Money data. As always have a
robust backup strategy that you periodically test to prove it really is.

I assume you have a laptop and a desktop networked together, with MSMoney
installed on both. Since the two computers are networked, you can keep your
Money file (that is, your data--.mny file) on a shared folder on your
desktop. To access that file from your laptop, open MSMoney on your laptop
and then open the file that is in the shared folder on your desktop. You
should not have a .mny file on your laptop. Note: Your desktop computer
must be powered on in order to access the file from your laptop.

WARNING: Since you are using wireless, you could be exposing your data to
the world. Make sure you use the strongest encryption that your router
provides (preferably WAP) if you do this on a wireless network.

Keep your file on a portable hard drive or memory stick instead of on
either of the computers.
