| What he said. In addition, I record the employer match portion as a negative amount on the after-tax deductions tab of the paycheck wizard. I categorize it as deferred-income. I have an offsetting deduction categorized as a transfer to the cash portion of the appropriate investment account. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL Dick Watson wrote: - quote - > There is no one right answer. | There is no one right answer. See below for comments. "guilo" <guilo.1uje71[at]no-mx.msusenet.com> wrote in message news:guilo.1uje71[at]no-mx.msusenet.com... - quote - > What I would like to learn is how to setup an automatic "investment"
For this reason, among others, I setup two recurring transactions. The second is a recurring BILL (counter-intuitive, I know, but that's M02+ for you) set to enter into the 401k cash account register that is SPLIT into several "Buy Investment/CD" elements. You will probably have to type out "Buy Investment/CD" as it will probably not be offered in the pull-down. Each split Buy Investment/CD element is scheduled to Buy some hokey number of shares based on some hokey price for total dollar amounts proportioned to match my investment allocation election. I adjust these when I get the actual number of shares bought by editing, deleting qty and price and entering the reported exact qty. (I don't have commission involved.) Money figures the approximate price given the other two variables. - quote - > Any ideas for how to setup these recurring contributions to
You can't readily do automatic since you cannot know the amount in advance.> automatically "buy" -- calculating quantity based on current market > share value and a specific commission? You might be able to get this from downloaded transaction data, depending on the FI involved, version of Money, phases of the moon, and so on. I do all my entry manually and believe I have many fewer problems doing it this way. Others can maybe help better with that aspect. I can help with 401k questions otherwise. |
