| If you have an account associated with MSN Billpay in any way, and also have a passport password on the file, MSN Billpay will create a duplicate account. The fact you had the account associated with MSN Billpay first means that's the bank the account is associated with. Because it still is (or thinks it is) actively associated with MSN Billpay, you can't disassociate it. If you want to use direct banking/billpay with that account (I recommend that, rather than MSN Billpay) you have to disable MSN Billpay in MS Money. You can then disassociate the account from MSN Billpay and associate it with the bank you want link to using direct billpay. If you continue to sync Money with MSN, the account will download again and create a duplicate. You cannot merge the two. The only way you can get rid of the duplicate is to disassociate the account from MSN Billpay on billpay.msn.com. For this reason, I have abandoned any use of MSN Billpay. I'm having problems getting the primary checking account disassociated from MSN Billpay, but have a lot of help at Checkfree. I think the evening people found a problem but have to go to the daytime 2rd or 3rd level support to resolve it. For that, I have to wait for the normal business week. Once that's done, I may activate a passport again to gain online access to certain credit card accounts, but I'm not certain that's worth the hassle. Right now, I can't make that assessment without the accounts getting duplicated again. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL John Cucco wrote: - quote - > Hello, > I recently installed MS Money 2006 and my MSN Bill pay worked fine. | Hello, I recently installed MS Money 2006 and my MSN Bill pay worked fine. I then had to stop using it to try and setup the same account to get online statements from my bank. Needless to say, I wasn't able to get Money to work with my bank, and now I cannot get MSN Bill Pay to use that same account. I have even gone back to a backup from when I upgraded and still MSN Bill Pay will not use my checking account. The best I was able to get is to have MSN Bill Pay creat a second account in Money, but this is very annoying. It ends up giving me another checking account with bills that are already written against the original. Any ideas? - John Cucco jcucco-laptop[at]stny.rr.com |
