| Yes, the problem is that the Portfolio is not able to back up to the servers. Take a look at the Network Status page: http://money.msn.com/common/networkstatus.asp in particlular the link to the KB about not being able to save to the server. -Mark "Paul" <Paul[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:87BBA491-0D61-4CAE-895F-60D1F90B438C[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > "johnbusc[at]hotmail.com" wrote:

What is happening is that my MSN Portfolio generic welcome and all of my data is gone. To get my data back I use restore backup. My backup files are saved in My Dcocuments, and when I looked at them I saw that My Portfolio is also backing up My Money 98. This backup file has a money icon by it. I am having to restore backup every time I open My Portfolio and I am building a lot of files that contain both Money 98 and My Portfolio. I guess the real problem is that My Portfolio is not saving to server when I exit and data is lost. - quote - > Thanks for your help. Paul |

| Paul, Thanks for the info. If I understand correctly, prior to "the last several weeks" you only had portfolio data on MSN Money and you only had data unrelated to your MSN portfolio in Money 98. However now, the MSN portfolio data is also in your Money 98 file. Is this right? If so, are there also new accounts in your Money 98 file that contain the investments in your portfolio? How do you access this portfolio data that is now in your Money 98 file? Describe an example Money session where you view this data. Also, do you have the same accounts listed in your portfolio on MSN Money now as you did prior to the last several weeks? Click on the following link to a Microsoft knowledgebase article: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;175000 The article mentions that Money accounts that may have been linked to an MSN portfolio should appear with a Money icon next to the account name. Do any of the accounts in your MSN Money portfolio have a Money icon next to them (or any other indication that they are linked to your Money 98 file)? JB |

| Paul, Could we confirm a few things first? 1. With your Money file open, go to the toolbar at the top and click on "Help". From the Help menu click on "About" or "About Microsoft Money". What is the precise version information given there? 2. You mentioned in another thread that you obtained a Passport at some point. Do you login to your Money file using your Passport login? Post back and let us know. Thanks. Regards, JB |

And I did not think that something like what you described could happen if you did not have a Passport on your file. So I suspected you had mixed something. My suspicion was that perhaps it was something like your using Money 2004 on Windows 98. I also suspected that you were actually referring to your MSN portfolio on moneycentral.msn.com. |
