No. That copy has the word "Archive" in its name.

Money does that on its own.

Have a look at http://umpmfaq.info/faq.html#Q29 for some thoughts about
archiving.

To get round the "can't find the last file" navigate to the file with My
Computer or Windows Explorer and double click on the file name. This will
start Money using that file.

I tried this by renaming sample.mny to newsample.mny and learned that
Money will not start because it cannot find the file on which it last
closed (i.e. sample),

I didn't know that. Why are they not recommending it?

All you need do, when finished archiving is close Money and rename the
abc.mny file to the new name. Then double click it to open it.

Many people who post to this group don't recommend archiving though.

Default Archiving in 2006

After reading the help file, It is not clear to me what happens to the
name of the file that remains after archiving; That is:

If I archive file abc.mny, 2006 makes a copy of it (presumably named
abc.mny?)

It then removes everything before date mm/dd/yyyy from the abc file.

It renames the archived file yyyy Archive.mny (presumably containing
data before the date in question), and abc retains the same name as it
did before it was truncated.

I want to change the name of abc.mny to reflect its new (remaining)
content.

How can I do that?
