finally got the file open after downloading the most current trial version,
opening the sample file, upgrading updates, and restoring my old file. Guess
I'll have to purchase it now. Even if you don't want to use the passport
stuff on the net, you have to say you do and put in your passport password.
What a bother! Thanks for the help and the articles. I think they helped in
some way.

I Just opened the sample.mny file while connected to the internet. Didn't
have any questions about upgrades, etc. Closed Money and opened again. It
opened the sample file again and the version is still .724. I am currently
downloading the trial version of 2005. Anything else I should try?

Either create a new file without a Passport (click Decline) or open
sample.mny from your install folder. Connect to the Internet. Close
Money. Open Money. Is your version now 14.0.*.1105? If so, open your
real Money file.

This is Susan again. The files from the old computer are actually from Money
2004, not 2005.

Default 2005 Password

I had 2005 on an old computer with Windows ME. We got a new computer with XP
Home. I have copied the old 2005 files, regular and backup versions, onto a
flashcard and copied them over to the new computer. The 2005 version on the
new computer ends in .724. I cannot open my files because it keeps asking
for a password. Even when I select to work offline, it asks for the password.

I searched for *.m12 files and found ones which were created each time I
couldn't open the file because of the password problem.

Any guidance is much appreciated.
