There are three ways described in the OFX specification for handling> market fund and a bunch of stocks and mutual funds. > Question #1 - The money market fund is downloaded as cash. How do I change > it back? funds swept into a Money Market Fund. Showing the numbers as cash is one. I suggest that you go along with the method that the download from the broker uses. If you can't take that, and if that is how Schwab downloads work, enter the Buys and Sells of the MMF manually or switch brokers. I think you will find representing those swept funds as cash is quite workable. If I were entering transactions by hand, I would do it that way. - quote - > Question #2 - I want to be able to track the portfolio performance so I want
Wait. Are you saying that the Schwab downloads don't include> to download transactions in addition to just positions. But I have to "add" > the positions at the end of the transactions. What's the best approach to > start a tracking system? *recent* stock or fund buy and sell transactions? That would be a problem. I don't use Schwab, but if I did, I would check with Schwab about that. The amount of history downloaded initially varies from broker to broker, but a month or two is not uncommon. If you are talking about older transactions, it is best to enter them by hand from your notes. If that info is in a spreadsheet, there are ways of getting that info into Money. I suggest you plan to delete any AddShares transactions, unless you find that putting your old transactions to be too much work.. Expect new buys and sell transactions to continue from then on. I am in the habit of selecting to have Money to not update positions. Sometimes there can be a delay before position data is updated even tho the transaction gets downloaded. |

| First time try to set up a new account from Schwab, which consists of money market fund and a bunch of stocks and mutual funds. Question #1 - The money market fund is downloaded as cash. How do I change it back? Question #2 - I want to be able to track the portfolio performance so I want to download transactions in addition to just positions. But I have to "add" the positions at the end of the transactions. What's the best approach to start a tracking system? Thanks in advance. Mike |
