If you are looking to use a different passport on a copy of your Money file, you can remove the current Passport, and set up for a different one. To remove the Passport from a file you may have to turn off background banking at Tools-> Settings-> AccessYourMoneyDataOnTheWeb and then File-> PasswordManager you can choose to remove your Passport. |

| I am still stuck on this - I have MOney on a backup computer with my current data file copy, but I am not sure how to reassociate it with another passport account. I tried just logging in with a new account, and it says that account is not associated with my file. So how do I accomplish this: "> > I would not have the same Passport on both versions, or there could - quote - > > be interaction. If there is no Passport, they will be quite > > independent. | Thanks Cal, this was helpful. I don't have 2 Passport accounts, is it as easy as just creating a new one and associate with a different email account? I think my online passwords etc. are in the file, as I have had to do a system refresh/restore and the data files comes up fine with all my accounts and passwords. Will that work the same if the data file is associated with a new account? I guess if it's on a different Passport account and I get cold feet I can just wipe the install and my primary is no worse for the effort? thanks "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:lfi1f199lar3u0rjpt3eob2d6ppa0q094o[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Don Awalt wrote: > > I have a backup computer that also has Internet access. When you copy the file over, if you use CDR, it will be marked Read-only. Clear that attribute. If you copy via network, be sure that you are the owner of the file on the test machine. If you copy a backup file over, browse to where to restore rather than take the default. The locations may not be the same between machines. In comparisons, be aware that the test machine may have a slower processor and a smaller display. |

| I have a backup computer that also has Internet access. I am using Money 2004 , I pay bills and get statement/stock/mutual fund updates with it. I don't use budgeting, and I make heavy use of categories/reports. I am thinking about testing out Money 2006 (I stayed away from 2005), could I install Money 2004 on my backup computer, copy my file over, and then use that to upgrade to 2006 and test it out? My thining is if it turns out to be something I don't like or can't use I just uninstall it and stay where I am on my primary computer. It seems I could do everything on it but pay bills (or when/if I tried that, I pay a bill there, and the update to my checking account comes through to both systems). It's just running in parallel. Will this work, any risks? Do you recommend I try this? thanks! |
