| Thanks for all the suggestions. In the end I was able to restore the backup by burning the contents of each floppy disk to a different CD. Jeff |

| You might try this as it works for some installations that are meant to install from floppy disk. Make note of the disk labels on the floppy - if you go to My Computer, the label should show up on drive a or you can right-click the drive and choose Properties and you will see it listed next to Label - I suspect that they will be disk1, & disk2. Create a new text file named the same as each label - right click an empty place on your desktop and choose New, Text file and give it the desired name. Do not use an extension. You will get an error message about changing the extension but ignore it. Copy these two files to the CD along with your data files. Now when your restore looks for Disk2, it will find the label and then should also find the data file associated with this disk label. Another way to do this is to create sub folders named using the disk label (disk1, disk2) and copy the data from each disk into these folders. The files will be named *d1.mbf, *d2.mbf, *d3.mbf and so on. In WE, double-click the *d1.mbf file. That should launch Money and start the restore. When Money prompts for the next diskette, click OK. You will have a chance to change the location or filename for where the restored data will go. If this is a different computer, it is especially good to browse to a location. The old location may not even exist. Restoring to your "My Documents" folder would be a good choice. |

| Is there another file on the second floppy disk that identifies it as disk 2? If so, copy that file to the CD, as well. Or, how about ejecting the CD and putting it back in, so Money thinks the disk was changed? -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL "Jeff" <jeff_terry10[at]hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1122871325.054688.316500[at]o13g2000cwo.googlegroups.com... - quote - > My computer recently died, and I had to pick up a new one. | My computer recently died, and I had to pick up a new one. Fortunately, I had current backups of my Money file on floppy. Unfortuantely, the new computer does not have a floppy drive. I've tried burning the backup files to a CD and restoring from there, but the Money restore program keeps prompting me for a second disk. (My backup file is big enough to require two floppies.) I've tried clicking OK with the CD in the drive (both backup files are on the same CD) but it doesn't recognize the second backup file. Does anyone know a way to work around this? |
