I agree the wizard is brain damaged.

But when I say follow the money, I mean you have to know the mechanics of
your plan well enough so that you are not needing something like the wizard
to account for things like employer matching funds.

"Follow the cash from the beginning so that there's nothing to adjust?"

Ummm . . . I would edit that to say, "when it tells you to adjust, DON'T DO
IT." Money won't LET you "follow the cash." At least the wizard won't.

Mine is impossible to follow, because the last two paychecks of
contributions deposit more or less simultaneously with the first paycheck of
the next month's contributions coming out and transferring into the cash
account. I get so confused I usually give up.

I completely gave up using the wizard, because it wanted to make
adjustments. It's like it thinks that your employer transmits your
contributions the same day you get paid. When I worked for a medium-sized
corporation, it got done the same pay period. Now that I work for a small
firm, it gets done maybe once a month, and there is a lot of overlap that
the wizard just doesn't handle well.

One more time -- don't use the wizard, or at least reject the adjustments.

And if that doesn't work for you, put some category that works for you in
the account adjustment transactions.

I'm not sure this has been asked frequently and never answered--the answer
is too easy.

Follow the cash from the beginning so that there's nothing to adjust?

Default 401k Account Adjustment

I know this has been asked before, but not answered...

When I balance my 401k account the Account Adjustment to the cash
account is designated an Unassigned Expense. This throws off my
Income/Expense reports. Any way to fix it?
