Default Re: Transferring Money 2005 data to a new computer

This is very strange, which is why we're all scratching our heads. Here's a
thought. Before you copy the file, enter a new transaction that you'll be
sure to recognize -- maybe something in your checking account with the payee
MONEY MVP.

Once you've copied the file to the new computer, that transaction will be
there. If it's not, there's some other problem, like perhaps the wrong file
is being copied.

Hi Bob,
I will try again and see what happens. I will make sure that we copy the
..mny file when we do and let you know. I will get back to you later today as
I have a bunch of errands this morning. Thank you for your help!

Hi Bob,
We do not have a zip, but the way we have been trying to do it, is by
burning a cd. The data goes into Money on the new computer, but it it way out
of wack. Balances are all wrong. Double entries on paychecks and debit
transactions. Just a big disaster. Something we did not expect to encounter!
I have been using since 2000 and have not had this before.

Try copying the .MNY file from one machine to the other instead of doing
backup and restore.

Be sure to do an Internet Update on the new copy to get all of the patches.

Hi Richard,
We have tried numerous times to back up and restore, but we come out with
the same issue. All my husbands paychecks are being posted with gross and
net,so it looks like we have a ton of money!! Plus, all our cash withdrawals
are posted twice along with other very strange things. I just don't know! Mu
old file is perfect, but it won't back up the same way.

That's bizarre. So you're saying you still have the file on the old
computer and it looks fine? I guess you could try copying the file over
again. Maybe you copied an older backup?

Default Transferring Money 2005 data to a new computer

We purchased a new pc and have backed up all of our money 2005 data and
downloaded into new computer. Some accounts are okay, but others are way out
of line. When I look in the register, it is just a mess. Totally out of
balance, but bank balance is accurate. It looks nothing like my register in
the old computer. I don't know what to do. It is my main checking account and
I have been using it since Feb 2005 and I really do not want to have to
reconcile the whole thing manually!! It will take forever. Can any one help
me!!
