| Oops! I was wrong. When I check "Update Automatically" there is a short delay before the refresh. I also notice that prices are updates every time I switch back to the portfolio view when "Update Automatically" is checked. I am surprised that the delay is as small as it is since the stock quotes must be being downloaded every time the switch is made. Why does it update security prices so quickly when it is done this way and so much more slowly when you hit an "Update Prices Now" button? | I'm running Money 2006 Canadian on a 1.4Ghz AMD Athlon. I have investment data on more than 150 investments dating back as far as 1992. I have never had the problem you describe whether or not "update automatically" is checked. However, I have noticed that in Money 2005 & 2006, it seems to take considerably longer to download quotes. | I have two machines that are have totally different hardware configurations. The problem exists on both machines. Maybe its because I have accumulated 100+ different investment entries (closed and open) over the years. I talked to the Money Customer Service person and he told me he too had the problem and I should raise as much #$% as I could with Microsoft to get it fixed! | I also can't register with Money 06 Premium. Same problem. Thanks for letting me the Microsoft is aware of this. | Sorry I'm not going to be of any help here, but my computer is only a 1.4 Pentium M and my file is 80+Mb and I don't have the slowness problem you're reporting in M05 or M06. On the other hand, M03 was unusably slow for me. It might be helpful to think about things that are unique to your configuration or in common with other people who are having the same problem. If that part can be figured out, I'm sure it can be fixed. -- "Ken" <krlorenz[at]comcast.net> wrote in message news:zfSdnX1Os_ZvkHffRVn-hA[at]comcast.com... - quote - > I just installed Money 2006 Premium (purchased at Costco) and it acts and > feels just like Money 2005 Deluxe. | I just installed Money 2006 Premium (purchased at Costco) and it acts and feels just like Money 2005 Deluxe. One minor problem is Money 2006 Premium cannot register with the Microsoft server because it is "down" so I don't have access to the premium stuff!! Am I the only one with the problem? Microsoft Customer Service says they are working on the issue but can't tell me when it will be fixed. However, my major gripe concerns the "feature" that causes a delay of from 4 to 6 seconds on the screen refresh when switching from a Price History Screen for an investment back to the main Portfolio Display. The problem/feature was also available in Money 2005. I don't think it was there in Money 2003. Please don't respond and tell me my computer is too slow or my video card/driver is not working correctly - to many other people have the same problem. My machine is a 3.2 GHz Pentium with an ATI 9600 video card. I use Money to manage my investments and like to review the price history frequently. I'm sure Microsoft is aware of the issue but did not fix it in Money 2006 - in fact, I think it got worse! How can I/WE mount an effort to get the Money development team to fix the problem or tell those of us with the problem how to make it go away. I basically like Money and have been using it since day one. I really don't want to switch to a different product. |
