Cal, Chris and Dick,

My backup data is now normal size. It kept on going down 5M-10M every time
I backed up until now it is the same size as my money file. Still can't
explain the phenomena.

I see that frequently in my on-exit backup--but not double. Almost always
when this difference number is large, Money did a compact cycle after the
backup on the way off stage.

Hi,

I just installed Money 2006 from Price Costco upgrading from 2004 with no
apparent problems. Here's some things I noticed:

1) Speed appears to be about the same but it Money 2006 appears to be doing
things a little more intelligently. For example, after starting Money 2006,
and after welcome screen comes up, one can see processor activity that Money
is using. For 2004, I would have to wait until processor activity subsided
before using Money or it would take forever for each mouse click. With
2006, apparently I can use Money with no noticeable slowdown. My guess is
that background processing is really in the background.

2) Backup data file is 60M but the actual Money file is half that size.
Same phenomena with 2004. Don't know why.

3) Although items, look and feel has changed, it is not as bad as I had
heard. Actually, it's pretty intuituve - I was able to find everything I
looked for. Money Home page is customizeable. There is an extra row on top
which takes away from the useable screen though. I wish there was a way to
customize this but that doesn't seem like a major gripe.

4) 2004 settings appeared to carry over quite nicely - I didn't get any
suprises.

5) With one Internet download, transaction matching appears comparable with
2004. All my accounts downloaded sucessfully. Two accounts I had closed
previously were reopened during account upgrading - my guess is that the
bank sent their names down as active accounts. I logged onto the web site
and removed them. No more problems.

6) I like backup processing - and I probably won't even use the DVD/CD-ROM
feature. It shows more thought - many times I go into Money and look at
something and then exit. I don't want to backup even though my settings
have automatic backup. Now I can click on Postpone after clicking on Quit
Money and no backup will take place.

7) If one upgrades like I did, the current converted Money file will remain
in the old location (in my case Program Files\Microsoft Money. You might
want to check it out and move it to somewhere more appropriate like My
Documents.

8) It make be interesting to take a look at the readme.txt file in the Money
program.. some directory. Some pitfalls are documented there, although I
somehow managed to avoid them all :-)
